The trial targets the 30% of children who don’t naturally recover from concussion, with early intervention proving successful in cases like 15-year-old Macy Watson, who experienced severe symptoms including confusion and difficulty with schoolwork after hitting her head on a sandbank. Doctors are now advocating for free concussion clinics to be established in children’s hospitals nationwide, warning that untreated concussions can cause lasting damage.
