‘Need more backup’: Renewable energy risks widespread blackouts

Sky News political contributor Chris Uhlmann warns renewable energy can’t support societal needs on poor weather days.

“The fuel that we are talking about comes from the weather, it is there when it decides to be there, not when you want it,” Mr Uhlmann told Sky News Australia.

“In order to cover that gap in future, you’re going to need more backup of some kind.

“When the wind doesn’t blow, and the sun doesn’t shine, you might not get this power.”
