Mourning in Switzerland after ski resort fire | Iran protests turn deadly | NYC swears in new mayor
Switzerland has begun the New Year with five days of mourning, after fire ripped through a crowded bar at a luxury ski resort.
Many young people had been there to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Authorities say around 40 people were killed. 115 others were injured, including many Italians, as well as one Australian who is receiving medical care.
The bar in the Crans-Montana resort in the Alps is popular among tourists.
The Swiss President has described the deadly fire as one of the country’s worst tragedies.
