More than 100 people reported dead as Typhoon Kalmaegi devastates central Philippines

From Cebu, World Vision’s Lucille Latonio spoke to SBS World News, saying the devastation from Typhoon Kalmaegi has been “heartbreaking”, with entire villages wiped out and many residents still missing.

More than 100 people have been killed, after the typhoon tore through the Philippines, bringing torrential rain and severe flooding to the country’s central region and the densely populated island of Cebu.

The storm has destroyed homes and infrastructure, forcing hundreds of thousands to evacuate. It’s the latest in a series of natural disasters to strike the Philippines in recent weeks.
