More ISIS brides set to return to Australia
AFP Assistant Commissioner Stephen Nutt confirmed the agency was preparing for additional arrivals of people from the region under similar circumstances but declined to share how many authorities were expecting.
Liberal senator Michaelia Cash asked if the AFP was “making any arrangements for the arrival of any additional members of this cohort in the next 12 months” and was met with a simple “Yes senator”.
“I’m not going to comment on numbers … there is some variation in the numbers,” Mr Nutt said.
Home Affairs secretary Stephanie Foster said the cohort had organised their travel privately, and the department wasn’t aware of “when and how” they were planning on returning.
