The ICAC inquiry into Liberal Party donations has examined allegations of a targeted smear campaign to remove NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler from his position. Former Fair Trading Minister Eleni Petinos testified that she believes she was used as part of a wider plot, after launching an investigation into Chandler’s conduct in mid-2022 that led to his resignation. The inquiry is focussing on claims that fugitive developer Jean Nassif paid $2 million to Liberal Party operatives in exchange for ensuring Chandler’s removal.
