The Fair Work Commission has announced a 4.75% wage increase for nearly three million of Australia’s lowest paid workers, effective from July 1. The increase, which splits the difference between the 6% sought by unions and the 3.5% proposed by business groups, will see minimum wage workers receive just over $1,000 per week.
