Meta agrees to $25 billion settlement in historic US legal case
Meta has settled a historic legal case brought by several US states.
The case sets a legal precedent as Meta concedes it misrepresented the extent of child-related mental health harms caused by apps like Facebook and Instagram.
A part of the settlement will see Meta implement “nighttime blocks” and “enhanced age assurance measures” to prevent children from accessing the apps.
Meta will pay $25 billion to the state plaintiffs.
