Melbourne women charged with slave crimes in Syria | 7NEWS

Two Melbourne women, a 53-year-old mother and her 31-year-old daughter, have been charged with crimes against humanity including enslavement and possession of a slave. Australian Federal Police allege the older woman purchased a slave for $10,000 US after moving to Syria in 2014. Both women have been remanded in custody and will apply for bail on Monday at Melbourne Magistrates Court, with each charge carrying a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment.
