Melbourne professor awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry

A Melbourne professor is one of three scientists who have been awarded this year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Melbourne University’s Professor Richard Robson won the award, alongside Susumu Kitagawa and Omar Yaghi, for their contributions to metal-organic frameworks.

The Nobel committee credits the scientists for developing a new form of molecular structure.

These constructions can be used to harvest water from desert air, capture carbon dioxide, store gases, or catalyse chemical reactions.
