Marco Rubio faces intense questioning on Capitol Hill
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has faced a day of intense questioning in both the House and Senate committees on Capitol Hill.
He is defending accusations from Democrats the Trump administration’s diplomatic efforts around the world are failing.
Mr Rubio faced increased scrutiny on the negotiations with Iran, but also had to defend his personal conduct after accusations he attended a party instead of focusing on the war.
“I was not at a party. Where I was is next to the President, because in the midst of those negotiations, I was in communications with them.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about; you’re just making stuff up. I know your staff wrote up this cute statement for your TikTok video, but it’s not true, and it’s not real; it’s not what happened.”
