A man was killed by a six-metre great white shark while swimming approximately 30 metres from shore at Sorrento beach during a morning swim with a friend. A violent criminal serving an extraordinarily long sentence transitioned to female while incarcerated in a men’s prison in Western Australia, the inmate, known only as SD, must now be recognised as female in all internal Department of Justice systems but has no right to choose where she is confined, and is preparing to take her case to the Equal Opportunity Commission. Perth nurses haven’t ruled out strike action after the state government broke a promise, and after a meeting with the health minister, a date on when staffing number reforms would increase wasn’t able to be given.
