John Yalu, a 41-year-old farm worker from Vanuatu, has been found guilty of manslaughter but not guilty of murder in the death of 66-year-old Queensland pensioner Kalman Tal. Tal died four years ago after Yalu performed a DIY leg amputation using a buzzsaw in a park, with Tal offering $5,000 for the procedure due to chronic leg pain. The jury delivered its verdict after deliberating overnight, with Yalu’s sentencing scheduled for the following Monday.
