Legendary Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has died aged 93 in Rome. Known as the king of the red carpet for almost 50 years, he co-founded the Valentino Fashion House in 1960 and became one of the first industry icons to utilise celebrity power to grow his brand, designing for Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Cate Blanchett and Julia Roberts. He created the iconic Valentino Red colour after being inspired by a trip to Spain and was remembered as a pioneering figure in fashion alongside Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio Armani.
