Newly released British government documents show Queen Elizabeth actively advocated for her son Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to be appointed UK trade envoy in 2001, a position he held for 10 years. The documents, released following pressure from MPs after Andrew’s February arrest for alleged wrongdoing in public office and sharing sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein, reveal the Queen’s secretary wrote that she was “very keen” for the Duke of York to take a prominent role in promoting national interests. The revelations raise questions about whether the late Queen had a blind spot for her reportedly favourite son, particularly as he was not vetted for the position.
