Labor extends paid prac scheme for uni students
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese nearly took a tumble after an escalator suddenly stopped as he arrived at the Adelaide Convention Centre for Labor’s 50th national conference.
Despite the mishap, Mr Albanese kept his balance and made his way into the conference in front of a who’s who of Labor premiers, ministers and MPs.
The Prime Minister used his opening speech to announce a major expansion of paid prac for university students, aimed at addressing critical worker shortages in the health sector.
Currently, teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work students receive $338.60 a week during mandatory placements. From July 1 next year, that will be expanded to include 10 additional health degrees. #paidprac #uni #auspol #albo #escalator
