Kristi Noem showcases new role days after homeland security dismissal
Former US homeland security secretary Kristi Noem has appeared publicly in her new role as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
Ms Noem spoke at the summit hosted by US President Donald Trump in Florida just days after she was dismissed from her cabinet position.
Her removal followed months of controversy over immigration enforcement tactics, concerns over contracts and internal turmoil within the department.
