Keir Starmer says it was a ‘mistake appointing Peter Mandelson’ over Jeffrey Epstein links
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he “made a mistake in appointing Peter Mandelson” as British ambassador to the US over his links to the late sex offender Jefferey Epstein.
“It was my mistake and I take responsibility in relation to it,” he said.
It’s the first time Starmer has publicly commented since the release of the Mandelson files on Wednesday, which covered the vetting of Mandelson prior to his appointment as ambassador.
Mandelson is under police investigation over claims he leaked government documents to Epstein.
Starmer’s team have said they will release more documents in the future, which they say will prove Mandelson lied to Starmer about the extent of his relationship with Epstein.
