Israeli navy intercepts Greta Thunberg’s aid fleet en route to Gaza | ABC NEWS
The Israeli navy has intercepted a pro-Palestinian fleet carrying aid during its attempt to break Israel’s maritime blockade of Gaza.
Israeli naval vessels reportedly surrounded the activist boats 70 to 80 nautical miles west of Gaza, as authorities offered to distribute the aid cargo in Gaza if they changed course to Ashdod.
The Global Sumud Flotilla refused to comply and was boarded by IDF personnel.
The Almo, which was carrying Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, was the first to be intercepted.
Juliet Lamont, who was one of the six Australians on the voyage, says the experience was ‘quite scary and surreal’ but things have happened calmly.
