Israeli cabinet ratifies ceasefire deal with Hamas
The Israeli government approved a ceasefire agreement for Gaza on Friday which includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, as part of the first phase of the US-brokered deal to bring peace to Gaza.
“The government has now approved the plan for the release of all hostages — the living and the fallen,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced on X.
Hamas’ exiled Gaza chief Khalil al-Hayya said he had received guarantees from the US and other mediators that “the war has ended completely”.
