Iran has expanded its territorial control over the Strait of Hormuz by more than 22,000 square kilometres, extending into waters belonging to Oman and the UAE. Donald Trump has declared the US will seize Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium and work to reopen the strategic trade route. Iran’s nuclear capabilities remain a central issue in negotiations, with Trump stating Tehran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
