Injured koala sparks Byron Bay habitat project | 7NEWS
A three-year-old koala named Little Watego was found injured at the bottom of a cliff by the ocean at Byron Bay, having apparently fallen and swallowed seawater after being bullied by another koala in an overcrowded habitat near the famous lighthouse. The incident has sparked a Worldwide Fund for Nature project involving volunteers in a mass planting effort to create a koala corridor, turning an empty patch of land into connected habitat that will allow koalas to move more safely through the landscape. Little Watego has since recovered and returned to his home among the gum trees.
