‘I could say the stupidest things and you’d clap’: Trump tells supporters
Speaking to supporters at a rally in Tennessee, US President Donald Trump said he could feel the “love” his audience had for him, adding: “I could say the stupidest things and you’d clap”.
Trump made the comments while addressing supporters at F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville as the Republican Party intensifies its campaign push ahead of the fast-approaching 3 November midterm elections.
The elections fall halfway through a president’s four-year term and give voters a chance to decide who controls Congress and, with it, how much the president can get done.
Experts say Trump’s immigration crackdown policies, in particular, will be put to a political test. Experts say the outcome could also impact Australia, where immigration remains a hotly debated political issue.
