A Catholic priest has been killed after a huge wooden crucifix fell on his head during a livestreamed Mass in Ecuador.
Father Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari was celebrating Mass at Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro Church in Guayaquil on Saturday when the heavy cross suddenly came crashing down on him.
The priest was addressing worshippers at the altar, with the large crucifix mounted on the wall behind him, when it appeared to break loose and topple forward.
The cross struck Father Molinari on the head, crushing him against the lectern and knocking him from view.
