Hillcrest jumping castle tragedy inquest begins | 7NEWS
A coronial inquest has opened in Devonport to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of six children – Peter Dodt, Chace Harrison, Jalailah Jones, Jye Sheehan, Addison Stewart and Zane Mellor – who were killed when a jumping castle was lifted into the air at Hillcrest Primary School during end-of-year celebrations almost five years ago. The inquest was previously postponed while a criminal case against Rosemary Gamble, owner of the business that supplied the jumping castle, was heard; she was found not guilty of failing in her work and safety duty in June last year. The four-day hearing at Devonport’s Paranaple Centre will hear evidence from families including Zane Mellor’s mother Georgie Burt, Tasmania Police and a forensic pathologist.
