Helen Haines: PM says independent MP attacked, suspect in custody
Independent MP Helen Haines has been injured after being struck by a car outside her electoral office in Wangaratta, Victoria.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has described the incident as an “attack”, and a suspect is in custody.
He says it’s too early to speculate on a motive but reiterated previous calls to “turn down the temperature” of political rhetoric.
