The Albanese government will scrap higher health insurance rebates for seniors from next year, eliminating age-based benefits in favour of income-tested rebates across all age groups. The changes will impact more than three million Australians, with seniors keeping their policies facing costs of over $200 more annually and government modelling predicting 44,000 people will drop their private health coverage.
