Health Minister announces strict new Hantavirus biosecurity measures
Australian Health Minister Mark Butler announced that the Hantavirus has been classified as a human disease under the Biosecurity Act.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs is still finalising flight requirements,” Mr Butler said.
“We are confident they will be finalised within a 48-hour time frame.
“The Hantavirus has now been listed under the Biosecurity Act as a listed human disease that is able to be the subject of biosecurity orders.
“I just want to reiterate again, this is probably the strongest quarantine arrangement anywhere in the world.”
