Gunmen shot near Israeli consulate in Istanbul

Three gunmen were shot by police during a firefight near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, with one attacker killed and two others wounded, according to authorities. Two police officers were also lightly injured.
Footage shows a gunman opening fire with what appear to be rifles and handguns near a security checkpoint, as police take cover and return fire. Two people are seen lying unresponsive on the ground while officers move in.
Officials say the attackers were linked to an organisation that “exploits religion,” with two identified as brothers. The gun battle lasted more than 10 minutes in the city’s financial district, where heavy police security has been in place since the 2023 Hamas-Israel war.
Authorities added there have been no Israeli diplomatic staff at the consulate for over two years.
