Independent think tank the Grattan Institute is calling for a rise in the GST rate from 10 to 15 per cent; a new survey of 2,000 Australians by AMP found more than half of those in their 20s intend to have fewer children because of cost of living pressures; and the ATO has warned tax payers have two more weeks to lodge their tax returns.
