GOP lawmaker pushes to block federal funds for NYC while Mamdani is mayor
A House GOP lawmaker is proposing to block federal funds designated for New York City for as long as Zohran Mamdani is mayor.
The bombshell legislation led by Republican Buddy Carter, is called the Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act, or the “MAMDANI Act.”
The bill stated that “any unobligated Federal funds available” for the city “are hereby rescinded” during any period in which Mamdani is the mayor.
Despite the ambitious push, Carter’s bill is unlikely to be taken up in the House.
This comes after Zohran Mamdani was elected as the mayor of New York City in a resounding victory.
