Gold surges to ‘record highs’ amid geopolitical tensions and interest rates
CommSec’s Tom Piotrowski explains that gold has surged to “record highs”, driven by a combination of interest rate expectations, global geopolitical tensions, and fluctuations in the US dollar.
“It was a matter of reaching a new high and then just retreating towards the end of the session,” Mr Piotrowski said.
“The dynamic around moderation in interest rates, the geopolitical factors continue to all support that, in addition to the continued moderation as far as the US dollar, they’re all factors that are contributing to the yellow metal being at record highs.”
