The Gold Coast light rail extension from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads has officially opened to passengers, completing a long-awaited expansion of the existing line that runs north to Helensvale. The new service connects major Gold Coast destinations including Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, Miami, and Burleigh Heads, with the Queensland government offering 50-cent fares. The state government predicts approximately 2 million passengers will use the new extension each month.
