Gold Coast hit by major flash flooding
Major flash flooding emergencies are unfolding across the Gold Coast after more than a month’s worth of rain fell in just 24 hours, with some areas recording over 200 millimetres in two days.
Emergency crews have carried out multiple swift water rescues and responded to more than 100 job call-outs as flooding hit multiple rivers across the region. Cars have been left stranded in floodwaters with major roads cut across the Gold Coast.
The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed the last time several gauges recorded a May day this wet was back in 2015, making these conditions highly unusual for this time of year. #flooding #rain #wildweather #queensland #goldcoast
