Fragile ceasefire pushed to the brink as US launches brutal self-defensive strikes on Iran
Iranian boats have been pummelled with “self-defence strikes” by the United States for reportedly laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the strikes were in retaliation for the Iranian’s actions.
CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins claimed the US “eliminated” two IRGC boats setting mines and a missile site in Bandar Abbas, Fox News reports.
Hawkins said the surface-to-air missile site targeted US warplanes, insisting the strikes were “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.”
“US Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” Hawkins said.
