Former NT Chief Justice Trevor Riley speaks on his new post as Chancellor of CDU | ABC NEWS

Former NT Chief Justice Trevor Riley has made a career of sentencing criminals but in his new role as Chancellor of CDU he’ll be focusing on getting them an education instead. Trevor Riley has spent decades in the courts, sworn in as Queens Counsel in 1989, making judge in 1999 and appointed a Professorial Fellow of the School of Law in 2016. He stepped into the role of Chancellor at Charles Darwin University in July. With federal government caps on international students, and a small population in the NT, the new Chancellor has challenges ahead. He caught up with Laetitia Lemke for Stateline NT to talk about some of the out-of-the-box solutions CDU is engaging with to continue to grow, including in a new partnership that will see prisoners housed at CDU’s Research facilities outside the regional town of Katherine, three hours south of Darwin.
