First AUKUS nuclear sub arrives in Australia
The first US nuclear-powered submarines to be based in Australia under the AUKUS agreement has arrived in Perth for maintenance.
The USS Colorado will form part of the submarine rotational force at HMAS Stirling from late 2027.
But the submarines will remain under US command, with Australia using its presence to build the skills and expertise needed to eventually operate its own nuclear-powered fleet.
