A mother and her three young children escaped a devastating house fire in Maddington by breaking through their neighbour’s fence after flames engulfed their home within minutes. The family was treated for smoke inhalation at Armidale Hospital, while fire crews battled the suspicious blaze that started in the carport and destroyed the property. Police arson squad investigators are examining the cause of the fire, which occurred just two weeks before Christmas as the family was preparing to move out.
