El-Sayed claims Michigan senate seat for the Democrats
Democratic challenger Abdul El-Sayed has won the senate seat for Michigan in the United States midterm elections.
“My name is Abdul Rahman Mohamed El–Sayed. And I’m so proud to stand here as your senator–elect from the great state of Michigan,” he told a cheering crowd in the state.
“To all of the parents who struggled to explain why the president openly mocked someone for their name or how they pray, let them know tomorrow that the bad guys lost.”
Donald Trump made El-Sayed a target of his campaign rallies before the midterms, describing him as a “jihadist lunatic” and saying he would install metal detectors in Congress just for him.
