Dozens of House Democrats abandon Ilhan Omar amid fraud probe
A group of around 40 House Democrats have declined to sign a letter supporting colleague Ilhan Omar as she faces a US federal investigation into her immigration status.
A letter accusing the US Department of Justice of weaponising the justice system against Congresswoman Omar was signed by 175 of the 214-member caucus.
Authorities are investigating allegations her father misrepresented her birth year on immigration paperwork when they moved to America from Somalia.
