Townsville residents on the Strand say they are prepared for potential Cyclone Koji. The tropical cyclone system is strengthening off Queensland’s northern coast with a high chance of becoming Category 1 Cyclone Koji by evening. Communities from Port Douglas to Airlie Beach, including Cairns and Townsville, are under warning with damaging winds up to 100 kilometres per hour expected and threats of life-threatening flash flooding. Emergency services have deployed 92 additional police and 35 state emergency services personnel to the affected areas.
