‘Don’t buy it for a second’: TV host slams prospect of raising criminal responsibility age
News24 host Caleb Bond says he doesn’t “buy the argument for a second” to raise the age of criminal responsibility.
“If you don’t know by the age of 12 that it’s wrong to stab someone, then I’m sorry there’s nothing we can do to help you,” Mr Bond said.
“I don’t buy the argument for a minute that the age of responsibility needs to be raised to 14 because kids of 12 and 13 don’t know what’s going on.
“By the age of seven, most children go through or enter what is known as the age of reason, which is when they really start to understand logic.”
