‘Direct but constructive discussion’: PM on talk with OpenAI’s Sam Altman after Medicare hack
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reveals “direct but constructive” talks with Sam Altman after an OpenAI agent accessed Medicare data without authorisation.
“Since then, of course, I had an extensive briefing in Canberra about the ongoing work that our taskforce is undertaking,” Mr Albanese said.
“OpenAI have been very constructive and open in engaging in that process.
“This is a challenge that the world is dealing with.
“Artificial intelligence can improve economic growth, improve our productivity; it can make a big difference for businesses who are using it.
“But there are risks, and we have seen those risks exposed.
“We see this as an opportunity, but we want to seize the benefits while mitigating the risks.”
