Democrats ‘eat their own’ as Chuck Schumer faces left-wing fury

Sky News contributor Joe Hildebrand says Democrats are beginning to “eat their own”, citing backlash against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for engaging in negotiations during the government shutdown.

“The good news for the Republicans is that the Democrats … they’re starting to eat their own here, like you’ve got left-wing Democrats attacking Chuck Schumer for negotiating a compromise,” Mr Hildebrand said.

“New York have very different fish, obviously, from the rest of the country.

“If people in the Midwestern swing states, for example, look at Zohran Mamdani and say that’s what the Democrats are like now, that I think helps the Republicans a lot more than the Democrats.”
