Delegates discussed ‘getting rid’ of land council boss during men’s meeting, court hears | ABC NEWS

Delegates of one of Australia’s largest land councils discussed ways to “get rid” of the council’s chief executive during a men’s meeting in 2024, the court has heard during a high profile defamation case in Darwin.

The Central Land Council CEO, Lesley Turner, is suing former shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Jacinta Nampajinpa Price in the Federal Court over a press release her office distributed in July 2024.

Mr Turner alleges the release falsely claimed he had lost the support of his fellow councillors and implied he was no longer fit to serve in the role.
