Deadly fire devastates Canadian military base, Carney calls it ‘one of the worst tragedies’

Four service members have died, and dozens were injured after a fire at a military base in Wainwright, Alberta.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney described the incident as one of the most serious peacetime tragedies for Canada’s military.

“A violent, fast-moving fire swept through a Canadian on-force base in Wainwright, Alberta; what followed was one of the worst tragedies for the forces on Canadian soil in peacetime.”
