Cyber hackers can use information from Victorian school system to access other services
AEGIS Cybersecurity Founder Luke Irwin says there is “no evidence as yet” the cyber hackers who accessed information of hundreds of thousands of Victorian school students have been used yet.
“Students will typically use and reuse passwords across more than one site,” Mr Iwin told Sky News Australia.
“Which means if they’ve captured these encrypted passwords and they manage to decrypt them … the hackers can break those down, work out what they actually are, and then use that to access other websites and other services that the student has used.”
