‘Cultural change takes time’: Communications minister reflects on social media ban
Communications Minister Anika Wells has conceded there were errors with the rollout of Australia’s social media ban for children under 16, but is adamant that history will view the laws favourably.
Speaking at the National Press Club in Canberra on Thursday, Wells reiterated that the ban “would not be perfect from day one” and that laws of this nature often have problems at the start.
Wells said she felt the law will be considered favourably in the years to come, comparing it to changes in driving laws to include seatbelts and penalise drink driving.
