Critical conditions: Worst fire threat since the black summer

The situation in southeast Australia is critical due to catastrophic fire conditions.

With the possibility of temperatures reaching 48°C and wind exceeding 90 km/h, thunderstorms may exacerbate the spread of existing fires.

Meanwhile, a tropical low in the north could intensify into a tropical cyclone and make landfall near Ingham or the Whitsundays.
