Australia’s first indigenous Socceroo and Yanyuwa man John Moriarty’s Football program has been driving change in remote communities through the power of football.
It’s proving popular with the kids and the communities in Borroloola and Tennant Creek and is growing in reach around the nation including hubs in Dubbo and Cairns.
The program has enabled talented kids in community such as Shadeene Evans get selected in the young Matildas, but it’s about much more than finding the next elite athlete. Dianne King has this report for Stateline Northern Territory.
